Heart Beats Drum Gathering – FUMC

Come and drop into the rhythm of your heart, of life, of the community. Illuminating Hearts is hosting a drum gathering at the First United Methodist Church of Omaha (Mead Chapel, enter door #11). Entrain back to the vibration of the earth and your body for better health. Energize and move some much needed energy before your NEW YEAR! If you feel like shaking your groove thing to the drumming, shake it. We will provide over a dozen drums and rhythm makers of different types. Bring a drum if you have one. No drum experience necessary!

We will also provide a supported drum dream journey & meditation to round out your evening with us. Beginners and advanced journeyers welcome. We will give basic instructions for those new to the experience.

  • 12:30pm-12:45pm: Set the circle, introductions, overview
  • 12:45pm-1:30pm: Group Drumming (all gathered)
  • 1:30pm-1:35pm: Break
  • 1:35pm-1:55pm: Dream Journey & Meditation (led by Illuminating Hearts)
  • 1:55pm-2:00pm: Close
If you are interested in more options to drum on this same day, we have another Heart Beats Drum Gathering later in the day 12/29/19 at Bancroft Street Market, from 6-7:30pm for $10. Come to one or both!

Is registration required? How much is it?
 
No registration required, just show up. The drum gathering is free.
 
Can I show up late?
 
Please arrive 10 min early. You can show up late up to 10 min after start time if needed. We will be winding out our instruction by then.
 
When is the next one?
 
This drum gathering is the first at FUMC. We will continue to update our events calendar if we have another one!
 
Are there minimum age requirements to enter the event?

Children aged 9 and up may attend both the community drumming and meditation portions of the event. However, in order to maintain an environment conducive to meditation, we ask that children must be able to remain quiet during the meditation. The drum meditation is optional and there will be opportunity to leave between these two aspects of the event if necessary (at 1:30pm).

What can I bring into the event?
 
Bring a drum or another percussive instrument you think would add to the mix, if you have one!
Will there be filming or recording at the event?
When you enter an Illuminating Hearts (IH) event, you enter an area where photography, audio, and video recording may occur. Read our full event policy, including a notice of filming, video and photography. Upon entering the event, you agree to our event policy and effectively release IH, its illuminators and collaborators, and each and all persons involved, from any liability connected with filming or recording. You also waive all rights you may have to any claims for payment or royalties associated with the recording. Our intention for filming and recording is to harvest beauty for the world.
